ALC’s theme is outdoor and environmental education. What does this mean and how will it make our school unique? Well, here are just a few ways…

  • We’ll be taking a lot of trips, including day trips that are close to home, and  occasional overnight trips far away. There will be challenges, but there will also be support so that everyone has a good time, learns a lot, and grows.
  • ALC will have a community garden.
  • Science classes will do experiments and projects that help us learn more about our natural environment.
  • We will explore urban environmental issues and environmental justice.
  • We will work with lots of partners, organizations and volunteers.
  • We will make our campus, neighborhood, city, and world a better place through community service learning.
  • We will strive to be an “environmentally friendly” school by recycling, using recycled products, and reducing our use of energy and natural resources.
Remember, you don’t have to have any experience in outdoor education to be a student at ALC, just the willingness to try and learn.
